What Workers' Compensation Benefits Should I Receive If My Injury Is To My Shoulder Or Hip?

The basic benefits that you are entitled to under Iowa Workers' Compensation Law are described in Category No. 6640. Please listen to that explanation. If your injury does involve an injury to your shoulder or hip an issue that often arises is whether or not your injury is to the body as a whole versus a scheduled member. Often times the insurance company or employer will argue that your injury is limited to your leg or your arm as opposed to involving the trunk of the body. In cases involving hip or shoulder injuries the location of the injury as well as the location of the impairment or loss of function is very important to determine. If your loss of function or impairment extends to the body as a whole your right to permanent partial disability benefits is based upon industrial disability rather than just loss of physical function. The medical issues in these cases often times are complex. In most cases the claim should be thoroughly evaluated by your attorney.
